NORFOLK SENIOR CUP
Crusaders 27 Beccles 34
Luke Wade kicked Crusaders out of the cup with a personal tally of 19 points from the boot.
Beccles took an early lead from the kickoff and were awarded a penalty on the Crusaders 10m line, with the aid of a strong wind Wade sent the ball high between the posts.
Crusaders responded from the restart and following a huge drive by the forwards and a bulldozing run by Josh Stuart, Rob Loone kicked an equalising penalty after Becces infringed a maul.
Crusaders forwards were well in control at this point and a push over try quickly followed but the conversion failed.
Beccles broke out of their half and crusaders infringements at the ruck gave Wade the opportunity to kick two more enormous penalties one close to the half way line, 8/9 to the visitors.
Crusaders regained the lead with another try from Rob Loon, the scrum half took a quick tap penalty to dive over after Beccles has illegally halted a rolling maul,13/9.
Beccles backs looked dangerous and made good use of a limited supply of ball and scored a good try out wide, Wade missed the conversion but made amends with another well struck penalty,13/17 half time.
Crusader's forwards disappointed at being behind after a good first half once again drove the Beccles pack back over their line for Rob Loone to touch down. The scrum half converted his own try to give the home side a 20/17 lead. Back came Beccles their backs taken the game to a hesitant Crusaders defence. A Wade penalty levelled the scores.
An injury to number Josh Stuart and changes in Crusaders pack allowed Beccles a bigger supply of ball and the backs turned the game around with two well taken trys, both converted by Wade into a strong wind. 34/20. Crusaders replied with a Sean Patterson try converted by Rob Loon. The final whistle ended the game that Crusaders could have won but for Wades superb kicking.
