Crusader 19 – 12 Diss 2
Crusaders welcomed a mixed Diss side to Little Melton on Saturday for a Friendly after Watton called off our cup game.
The game was a lot closer than it should have been with Crusaders missing a lot of chances to have won more convincingly
Crusaders scored first after a good kick through in the corner Ryan Harris sprinted onto the loose ball to touch down in the corner 5-0 to Crusaders a great touchline conversion from Theo Elliott made the score 7-0. Crusaders had more than one chance to increase lead but were faulted by good defence or poor handling. Diss 2 scored next with a good move from the backs seeing the ball go through the hands well and a few missed tackles from the home side 7-7.
Crusaders again were camped on the Diss 2 line and a good break from the back of the scrum from Johnathan Payne saw him reach for the line. Unfortunately the Ref did not see the Diss Defender kick the ball away.
Half Time 7-7
Crusaders again started 2nd half on the attack, great picks and goes by the forwards were giving the home side good ground. Man of the match Robert Dye was making great gains every time he was on the ball. Another player to break the gain line constantly was Peter Blinkhorn and he was next to score after a typical strong pick and go saw him crash through the cover defence. 12-7 Theo converting to make score 14-7.
Crusaders were now pushing for another score but spilled ball in the midfield saw the Diss 2 centre pick up and run in from half way 14-12. The conversion was missed straight in front of the posts.
In the final minutes Crusaders took the ball blindside for the impressive Ryan Harris to score his second of the day 19-12.
Final Score 19-12.

A good runout in preparation for Derby game next Saturday home to Wymondham.
