Despite a heavy sticky surface both sides produced a competitive and entertaining match. Crusaders started strongly and with good scrummaging had the home side pinned in their 22 for a long period. Last ditch tackling on Crusaders' Peter Blinkhorn prevented the No. 8 from scoring but he made no mistake minutes later with another powerful run from the base of the scrum. Theo Elliott converted to give the visitors a deserved 7 - 0 lead. Crusaders were enjoying a large share of possession and Theo Elliot increased their lead with a 45 metre penalty. Swaffham grew in strength and tested the visitors defence on a number of occasions but it was Crusaders who extended their lead with a further try. A counter attack from fullback Ryan Harris and a deft chip over the Swaffham cover defence was seized upon by winger Karl Peebles. A brilliant pick up and dive secured the visitors second try 0 - 15 at half time.

Swaffham emerged from their half time brief with determination and belief and it was Crusaders whose defensive qualities were examined to the full. Pressure told eventually and Swafffham engineered a good try with forwards and backs combining well 5 - 15. A combination of Crusaders attempting to run the ball from defence and Swaffham's use of the high ball gave the hosts further scoring chances but desperate Crusaders defence and a Swaffham knock-on kept the visitors lead in tact. In the dying minutes it was Crusaders who almost extended their lead but Rob Craig was denied by a good tackle a metre from the Swaffham line.

Both sides can reflect on missed chances but committment for a full 80 minutes provided a very entertaining game.
