Thetford 10 - Crusaders 21
Crusaders put last week's dissapointment behind them and produced a determined performance against a good newly promoted Thetford side. Crusaders pack dominated proceedings for the first thirty minutes resulting in two well taken trys by Robert Loone. A prolonged five minute scrum on the Thetford line resulted in a penalty try for for persistent infringements. All their trys were converted by the impressive Theo Elliot who marshalled his back line with panache.
Chasing a 0-21 defficit Thetford began to gain more possession and their hard running, backs tested the Crusaders defence.
Thetford began the second half in determined fashion and replied with an unconverted 0try from the kick off. Crusaders contained a revived home side and came close to adding to their score when fullback Alex Kelsall jinxed his way through the Thetford defence only to fail to find his winger out wide and clear. Thetford scored a second try with five minutes remaining, but it was Crusaders pack who finished as they started just failing with a pushover try in the final minutes.
