In a competitive first half the crowd were treated to some entertaining rugby with both teams commited to open rugby. It was Crusaders who took the lead when the ball was spun wide to George King who minutes earlier had come on for the injured Jamie Dack, the wing forward crashed through to score. Theo Elliot hit the post with the conversion, Woodbridge pressed for an equaliser and narrowed the gap with a penalty. Crusaders pack began to take control of the scrums but it was Woodbridge who took advantage of some careless hands by the visitors to score a try against the run of play, an excellent conversion from the touchline helped over by the post. Crusaders tested the home defence to the limit and a try from No. 8 Blinkhorn was just reward, converted by Elliot gave Crusaders a 10-12 lead at half time.
Crusaders dominated for long periods in the second half and Woodbridge defended gallently but the pressure told late in the game and further trys from King, Blinkhorn and an individual effort from Rob Loone reflected Crusaders control of the match.
