Crusaders kicked off the game with a much changed back line. Rob Loone., Jamie Dack and James Garner having joined the long injury list. In a game that was strenuously contested throughout it was Crusaders who took the lead. When Theo Elliot weaved his way into the heart of the Wisbech defence before delivering a perfectly timed pass to young hooker Dean Anderton to score a try with a determined burst to the line. Elliot converted a difficult kick. Wisbeach hit back strongly and replied with a deserved try from their forwards who were probably the best to visit this season, it was obvious that with a good set of three quarters Crusaders would have some defending to do.
Crusaders repelled a lot of pressure and restricted Wisbech to one further try score out wide by their speedy winger. A well struck penalty from Theo Elliot reduced Wisbech lead to 10-12. With the slope in their favour and despite having lost scrum Ryan with another injury Crusaders began to take control of the match and an Elliot penalty and a forwardins try from a rolling maulas just reward to take an 18-12 lead scored by returning Josh Stuart. Once again Wisbech broke out of defence to score a try to reduce Crusaders lead to one point.
Despite opportunities Crusaders failed to add to their score. With light failing badly the refferee consulted the captains who decided to play onwith less than 10 minutes remaining. Wisbech took a quick penalty spun the ball wide and scrored their fourth try of the match which also gave them the lead. It was at this point that the ref decided to stop the game for bad light much to the delight of Wisbech and the dismay to Crusaders.
