Crusaders 2 & 3 v Norwich Union 1 & 2

Match Report 04/09/2010 Crusaders 2 & 3 v Norwich Union 1 & 2

A great turn out of players for the first game of the season for the 2s and 3s just under 30 players. Good to see back Martin Howes, John Harris, Rob Taylor, Matt Hill, Dell Bowman and Franco
The first half started with Norwich playing most of the first team and Crusaders with a mix of 2s and 3s.
The big Norwich pack was causing our forwards some difficulty but the defence was solid. Our line was being put under a lot of pressure but a combination of great tackling and getting into the backs quickly stopped Norwich from scoring. Finally after ten minutes ,off a catch a drive Norwich Union went over to be honest a deserved lead
We changed the front row around after about 15 minutes and the game changed and the scrum looked much more stable. The next 20 minutes we came back into the game and by half time looked the better side with our handling much better then Norwich Union first team. A great show of strong defence and commitment kept Norwich Union to 5-0 at half time well done boys
At half time the side was changed completely and the second half was won by Crusaders.
Firstly a good set up by the forwards gave good ball for the backs the ball made its way to Stu Byrne and brilliant run saw him break through at least 3 or 4 tackles to score 5-5 converted by Timmy to make score 7-5
By now Crusaders were on the front foot and Norwich Union could not deal with the strong running backs. A good break from within our own half by James Cooke saw him put Petchy clear to score in the corner a great try 12-5 to Crusaders Timmy missing the conversion
A great run from James Robertson saw the final pass just go a miss or another certain try would have come our way. Norwich Union then had a spell of pressure but again the defence and kicking was good keeping the score to 12-5
Kip picked the ball up from the back of a ruck and a storming run towards the posts again if the pass had of gone to hand another try would have been ours
Norwich Union had no answer to us and another great run by James Cooke saw him burst through the defence as if not there to score under the posts 17-5 converted by Timmy 19-5 Final score
Well done to every single player was a brilliant result and a good start to the 2s and 3s season. Let’s carry on Saturday with the 2s at home to Lowerstoft and Yarmouth
Much Love
The Boss!!
