2nd team match Report 13/11/10

UEA 32 Crusaders 2 7

This week we travelled the short distance to play the in form UEA
We had to call off the thirds game due to lack of players. We went to
UEA with a mixture of 2s and 3s.
We had our 4th captain of the year in Ash as two of the others had been
promoted to the first team.
The team performed very well against a side who has put over 100 points
on 3 other sides this year.

The game started very evenly and the UEA did not look like scoring in
the first 15 minutes ,they finally broke our line to score making the
score 5-0 and in all honesty should have taken the 2 points but a
shocking kick saw it go wide. The UEA were putting on the pressure and
scored again after the full back ran through our defence a bit too
easily 10-0 and another shocking kick kept the score at 10-0
For the rest of the half we turned it around and UEA taking a yellow
card for back chat and stopping cocky taking a quick penalty. We were
camped on the 22 and from a good pick up at the back of the scrum saw
ash come centimetres away from scoring. UEA held out but new they were
in a battle and were shocked at not scoring for fun.
Half time 10-0 to UEA but we really should have been on the scoreboard.
2nd half started the same as the ended of the first half and we were
bullying the forwards around the park another good pick up from ash saw
him break 2 or 3 tackles to go over for a well deserved try 10-5 and a
brilliant kick from the touchline by Ross(showed how it should be done)
10-7 Game on.
The rest of the game was closer than the scorline shows with the pace of
UEA backs and us run out of steam. The UEA came out winners but the
boys were brilliant and the boys who stepped up from the 3s were not
out of place. Shows a good squad of 2s and 3s who want to play for each
other and the Crusaders Shirt

UEA think they are a good side yes they are but they will never beat
the Crusaders fight and willingness to put 100% in for the shirt
A defeat but I could not have been prouder of on the side

Next week no 2s game 3rds away at Watton 2s lets get the first win for
the 3s.
