Volunteering 1 of 3

1. Why Become A Volunteer?

Our rugby club is built on passion, community spirit, and a love for the game — but none of it would be possible without our volunteers. From the training pitch to the clubhouse, volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. Without them, we simply couldn’t run the club.

Why We Need Volunteers

Like most community rugby clubs, we rely on people generously giving their time and skills. Volunteers help us:

  • Run training sessions and match days smoothly
  • Organise events, fundraisers, and celebrations
  • Keep our facilities safe, welcoming, and well managed
  • Support young players as they learn, grow, and fall in love with rugby
  • Ensure the club continues to thrive for future generations

Every role, no matter how small, makes a big difference.

What You’ll Get Out of It

Volunteering isn’t just about giving — it’s also about gaining. When you volunteer with us, you’ll:

  • Join a friendly, supportive community and feel part of something meaningful
  • Learn new skills — from coaching and leadership to event organisation and communication
  • Boost your confidence and CV with real experience in a team environment
  • Make lasting friendships with people who share your passion for rugby
  • Enjoy watching players develop, knowing you’ve helped make it happen
  • Have fun — because being involved in grassroots rugby is rewarding, lively, and full of unforgettable moments

Most importantly, you’ll help keep the spirit of rugby alive in our local area.

Types of Volunteering Opportunities

There’s a role for everyone — you don’t need rugby experience, and you can give as much or as little time as you’re able. Some of our opportunities include:

On the Pitch

  • Coaching or assisting coaching teams
  • Managing teams on match day
  • First-aid support (training can be provided)

Behind the Scenes

  • Committee or admin roles
  • Social media, photography, or club communications
  • Sponsorship and fundraising support
  • Organising club events and socials
  • Helping with kit, equipment, or clubhouse upkeep

Match Day Helpers

  • Setting up pitches
  • Welcoming visiting teams and supporters
  • Running the Kit shop, bar, kitchen or BBQ

Event Days

  • Annual Crus Fest
  • Fireworks Night
  • Lunches
  • Quiz Nights
  • Games Nights

Even an hour here and there can make a huge difference.
